Friday's NHL showdown on DraftKings is a single game, SEA @ CGY, and it locks at 8:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m. PT). The captain slot scores 1.5x points at 1.5x salary, and the cap is $50,000.
Our model's top-ranked plays start with the goalie and the veteran forward on the SEA side. Philipp Grubauer costs $10,600 with a ceiling of 19.4 and a DraftKings average of 11.6, while Joey Daccord sits at the same $10,600 with a ceiling of 17.2. Jordan Eberle is $9,000 with the highest ceiling among the top plays at 22.2, and Vince Dunn is $8,600 with a ceiling of 17.5. On the CGY side, Joel Farabee is $8,200 with a ceiling of 20.2.
The value plays are where our model sees the most upside per dollar. Yegor Sharangovich is just $4,800 but carries a ceiling of 21.3, which is higher than several players who cost nearly double. Martin Pospisil at $4,400 has a ceiling of 19.7, and Adam Klapka at $4,000 reaches 17.9. All three are CGY forwards, and all three would leave plenty of cap room for the stars.
A few status tags are worth noting before lock. Devin Cooley and Brennan Othmann of CGY are tagged DTD, so check their status closer to puck drop. Several others on both rosters carry an IR tag, including Jared McCann, Ryan Lindgren and Jacob Melanson for SEA, and Jonathan Huberdeau and Samuel Honzek for CGY.
Our model's top lineup uses $49,300 of the $50,000 cap. It puts Eberle in the captain slot at $13,500, then fills the FLEX spots with Sharangovich at $4,800, Ben Meyers at $2,000, Brandon Montour at $9,800, Dunn at $8,600 and Grubauer at $10,600. The cheap Meyers and Sharangovich pairing is what makes room for the expensive core.
Lineups lock Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET.
