Wednesday's EFL main slate on DraftKings has five games: BHA @ MCI, BRE @ SUN, CRY @ FUL, AVL @ BOU and CHE @ LIV. Lineups lock at 3:30 p.m. ET (12:30 p.m. PT), and the salary cap is $50,000.
At the top of our model's board sits Cody Gakpo of LIV at $10,300, with a ceiling of 37.8, the highest on the slate. Jaidon Anthony of BRE follows at $9,800 with a ceiling of 36.0. Pascal Groß of BHA ($8,600, ceiling 31.6), Allan of MCI ($8,500, ceiling 31.2) and Marcus Tavernier of BOU ($8,100, ceiling 29.7) round out the next tier at lower salaries.
The best value is Diego Gomez of BHA at $4,900. His ceiling is 27.7 and his DraftKings average is 24.7, which is a lot of production for a salary that low. Jocelin Ta Bi of SUN is another mid-priced option at $7,500, with a ceiling of 27.5.
The crowd will be heavy on the top of the board. Cherki of MCI is the most popular play at 42% projected ownership, with Gakpo next at 41% and Anthony at 39%. Cherki's price is $10,600, and his ceiling of 30.0 and DraftKings average of 17.0 trail the other two by a wide margin, so he looks like the expensive, heavily owned name to consider fading. Gomez, at 18% projected ownership, offers similar savings with far less traffic.
Our model's top lineup uses $49,300 of the $50,000 cap. It pairs Anthony ($9,800) and Gakpo ($10,300) up front, then adds Gomez ($4,900) and Hugo Larsson ($6,000) in midfield. The defense is Julio Soler ($3,800) and Honest Ahanor ($3,900), with Mike Penders in goal at $4,900 and Mamadou Sangare ($5,700) in the UTIL spot. Cheap defenders and a value midfielder pay for the two top forwards.
